Kitakyushu has a population of approximately one million. When totaling its inhabitants along with those from neighboring cities that are within commuting distance, the population estimate doubles to two million. In addition, there are about 8,000 people from other prefectures of Kyushu who travel to the Fukuokan prefecture. Hence, Kitakyushu is rich in human resources. 
A city located in Fukuoka prefecture, Kitakyushu has many top ranked technological universities, and thus, many college graduates. There are 82 high schools and universities, including many technical high schools, located in Kitakyushu and its surrounding areas. There are over 16,500 graduates, and including graduates of the polytechnic universities, there are closer to 19,500 graduates per year. Hence, Kitakyushu can offer plentiful, highly qualified human resources.
