An important transport hub for traffic between Honshu and Kyushu

Kitakyushu is a hub of international ferry services which also offers an abundance of air transportation and a considerable rail transport network, all complemented with highways and surface streets.

Kitakyushu Airport

1) An offshore airport operating 24 hours a day
The Kitakyushu Airport sits on an artificial island and is the fourth airport in Japan to operate for 24 hours a day. In addition, the west coast of the island, where the airport is located, has a high elevation (offshore water depth ranges from 4.5m to 6.5m, and this coast has a length of 650m). This allows goods to be conveniently transferred directly between airplanes and ships.
As an air transportation base in Kyushu, the Kitakyushu Airport provides more opportunities for business cooperation with international market.

Fukuoka Airport

Fukuoka Airport has 24 domestic flight lines and 18 international flight lines. It handles 16 million passengers every year, and is one of the largest airports in Japan. Only 30 minutes from the center of Kitakyushu city, access to the airport is quick and easy. This is how it became known as the most convenient airport in Japan.

HIBIKI Container Terminal

The HIBIKI container terminal is located near the Sea of Japan which connects Asia, North Africa, and Europe. It is an elevated standard container terminal with a 15m high berthage, allowing large-sized container ships to berth. In addition, the container terminal provides easy access to low cost, less populated areas which are ideal for industrial use.

Tachinoura Container Terminal

In 1979, the Tachinoura container terminal, known as "Moji", was known to all. With a wide choice of regular container shipping routes, the container terminal is a favorite of many enterprises in the Yamaguchi prefecture and Northern part of Kyushu.
1) To Korea, there are 9 container shipping routes (transportation frequency: 76 times each month)
2) To China, there are 11 container shipping routes, (transportation frequency: 48 times each month)
3) To East Asia, there are 10 container shipping routes, (transportation frequency: 40 times each month)

Kokura Station

There is a main railway station in Kitakyushu in addition to many buses, the Sanyo Shinkansen, and Kitakyushu monorail lines also stop here.
Kokura station is located in the metropolis center of Kitakyushu, and the Sanyo Shinkansen stops here. It is the connection point of railway lines between the eastern and western parts of Kyushu. Shinkansen is a kind of transportation vehicle well-known for its extremely high speed, which allows people travel between major cities of Japan in a short period of time.
